Welcome to Holy Family Cathedral Parish! We hope that the Cathedral will be a welcoming community where Christ is found, liturgy is celebrated with full and active participation, and people find the strength and courage needed to witness their faith in the world.
The Christian community is a place of faith, hope, and love lived through prayer and action. From the Catholic perspective, the parish is where the Gospel message is proclaimed and lived, the faithful are formed in their relationship with Christ, where they mature and are sent into the world to express their faith. In the Catholic parish, God’s people meet Jesus Christ in Word and Sacrament, and are nourished by Him, who is the source of the Church’s life.
At Holy Family, we strive for a deeper knowledge and understanding of the truths of our Catholic faith. We defend the dignity of human life in all its stages. In the name of Christ, we strive for reconciliation, compassion, justice and peace. We are a diverse community, made up of Alaskan Natives, Filipinos, Hispanics, African-Americans, Tongans, Anglos and numerous other backgrounds.
Since 1974, the Dominican friars of the Western Province have staffed Holy Family. Since its founding by St. Dominic in 1216, the Dominican Order has been dedicated to the spread of the Gospel by preaching and teaching, and a life of community, study and prayer. The Dominican friars are dedicated to that mission here in the Archdiocese of Anchorage and at Holy Family Cathedral.
Holy Family is a Stewardship parish. We believe Stewardship is a call to holiness, a way of life. All that we have, all that we are and will be are gifts from a generous and loving God. We share these gifts for love of God and one another through liturgy, prayer, service and sacrificial giving. We invite you to share the gifts God has given you through joining the ministries in this handbook.
We are the People of God on pilgrimage together in our journey toward eternal life. Join us as we grow together in the Lord and work together to build up his kingdom
In Christ,
Fr. Francis Le, OP
