A welcome letter from Archbishop Roger L. Schwietz, OMI
Welcome to Holy Family Cathedral!
Holy Family is an historic house of worship with a prayerful, diverse community. I invite you to come and discover the history and beauty of our Cathedral Parish. The original Holy Family was built in 1915, expanded a number of times; and the present Holy Family Cathedral was constructed in 1948, where it now stands in the midst of downtown Anchorage.
The Cathedral is a vibrant parish with numerous ministries for all ages. If you live in the area I encourage you to register and become a parishioner. If you are visiting, I hope you will have the opportunity to come and join us in what we do best – praising God. After Mass, please introduce yourself to me or to one of the Dominican Friars whose community provides for the pastoral and sacramental ministry of the Cathedral.
I hope you will be inspired to participate in some of our social, pastoral or educational ministries and to learn more about the treasures of our faith. A warm welcome awaits you, as well as a prayerful community and a deep experience of the closeness of the Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
In Christ, Mary and Joseph
The Holy Family,
†Roger L. Schwietz, OMI
