Confirmation is the sacrament that completes Baptism and strengthens us with the gifts of the Holy Spirit, helping us live more fully as disciples of Christ.
Starting in 2026, Confirmation in the Archdiocese of Juneau-Anchorage will be moved to 5th grade with one year of preparation (previously 10th grade with two years of preparation).
“Confirmation perfects baptismal grace; it is the sacrament which gives the Holy Spirit in order to root us more deeply in the divine filiation, incorporate us more firmly into Christ, strengthen our bond with the Church, associate us more closely with her mission, and help us bear witness to the Christian faith in words accompanied by deeds.” (CCC 1316)
During the 2025-2026 year, all students in grades 5 and up who have not yet been confirmed will prepare to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation in spring 2026.
Families can choose between two options for preparation:
Sunday faith formation classes, or
Catechesis at home
Either way, registration is required in the fall. Just note your preference on the form.
Registration opens the first week of August. Please register as soon as possible so we can plan materials and class sizes! For more information please contact our Director of Religious Education, Briana Binder, at bbinder@hfocak.org or 907-646-3025.
For those older than High School
If you are an adult who has been baptized Catholic but did not receive the sacrament of Confirmation, you can receive instructions through the OCIA (Order of Christian Initiation for Adults) on Tuesdays at 7:00 PM. Call Deacon Dave Van Tuyl at (907) 646-3002.
